Product Understanding & Care Instructions

CARE FOR HARDWOOD FURNITURE

Our furniture is made with natural hardwoods and recycled woods, which can last a long time with proper care. To ensure the longevity of your wooden furniture, avoid exposing it to direct sunlight and water. Use curtains in rooms that get a lot of sunlight and don't place the furniture outside where it's exposed to the elements. For daily care, we recommend dusting the furniture regularly and wiping down the wooden surfaces occasionally with a damp, soft towel. To protect the wood, avoid placing drinks or hot food directly on the surfaces and use table linens or coasters instead. Also, be aware that laptops that generate a lot of heat can damage wooden surfaces. Leaning backwards on two legs of a chair can weaken the joints, so be mindful of that. Also, take care to prevent sharp objects such as toys, buckles, and heels from coming into contact with your furniture. Avoid contact with chemicals like hair and makeup products, perfumes, etc. as they can affect the finish. If your furniture becomes stained, scratched, chipped, or suffers any other damage, we recommend seeking professional help to restore it.

LIVING WITH HARDWOOD FURNITURE

Hardwood furniture may need to be polished once a year or if it's been scratched or damaged. A skilled carpenter can help ensure the piece has a long life. In tropical climates, high moisture levels can cause some types of hardwoods to swell, particularly during the monsoon season. In most cases, this can be repaired by a skilled carpenter after the rain has ended.

Each piece of wood sourced to construct the furniture is unique and exhibits varying grains, textures and shade. While we may try and match the polish, grains, and lines on the furniture, the uniqueness of the wood is what makes the piece special.

MOVING AND IMPACT DAMAGE:

To avoid moving and impact damage, take care not to drop furniture on its feet or against corners, and avoid rocking back or sitting heavily on seating. This can damage the structural integrity of the piece. When shifting or moving furniture, ensure it is packed securely with extra protection for the corners. It's best to hire a professional to pack and move your furniture. In rare cases, furniture can be damaged during delivery. If this happens, please let us know immediately so we can arrange for repairs as needed.

SUNLIGHT AND MOISTURE

Protecting your furniture from direct sunlight, water, and moisture is very important. Handmade furniture with natural materials is not designed to withstand the elements of outdoor climate, so it's best to keep it indoors unless specifically advised otherwise or for short periods of time.

METAL FURNITURE

Our metal furniture is treated with a variety of finishes, such as powder coating, electroplating, enamelling, or hand-based techniques like spray paint, clear coating, or natural finishes. To prevent corrosion, it is important to keep metal furniture in a cool, dry environment. Clean metal furniture by dusting it daily and wiping it down with a soft, damp towel. Avoid using any chemical or cleaning solutions as they can cause corrosion. Also, be mindful not to place keys, sharp objects, or glasses directly on the metal surface as it may cause scratching.

RATTAN FURNITURE

Rattan furniture can be easily cleaned with a vacuum cleaner or by dusting. Over time, the color of rattan may darken, which is normal as it ages. To avoid breaking the rattan, be gentle when sitting on it as it can only be repaired by skilled artisans.

UPHOLSTERED FURNITURE

To keep upholstered furniture in good condition, we recommend regular dusting and vacuuming. Avoid eating or drinking near upholstered furniture. Also, be mindful when sitting on textured fabrics such as velvets, tweeds, and raffias, as they can be easily damaged by studded clothes or accessories.
